Sackso Enterprises, LLC announces two new and innovative
products that will help make family road trips more fun and less tiring. The
DV-Grip and the DV-Grip IR allow for fast, easy and secure mounting of portable
DVD players into virtually any vehicle that has adjustable front seat head restraints. The DV-Grip IR incorporates infrared (IR) wireless headphone technology into this unique product for added convenience for both the front seat occupants and the viewing passengers.
"I designed these products out of necessity" explains
Sackso Enterprises' founder Ed Spellman. "A couple of years ago I bought a
portable DVD player to help make our road trips with the kids more enjoyable.
Surprisingly, I couldn't find a product that offered a quick and easy means to
mount the player in our Honda Odyssey minivan so that all the kids, even the
one in the third row seat, could comfortably enjoy a movie. Our second car was
an Audi A4, and I wanted a player mounting system that could be quickly swapped
between the two vehicles. With these goals in mind I designed a mounting system
that has evolved into the DV-Grip."
Most of the portable DVD player mounting systems on the market today are oversized
carrying bags that convert to a mounting platform. The ones that loop over one
of the front seats don't allow for screen angle adjustment which is important
for proper viewing. They make it difficult for more than one person to view,
and in small cars the viewer's knees can be up against the DVD player. Bag mounts
that suspend between the two front seats put the player in a more central position
for better viewing, but they are difficult to install and adjust. Also, they
effectively block the pass through area between the two front seats which could
be an issue when traveling with small children. The DV-Grip has none of the limitations
that are inherent with bag type mounts.
With so many movie titles available on DVDs now, and the affordability
of the disks and the portable players the DV-Grip and the DV-Grip IR make it
easy to outfit your car, van, or SUV with a first rate video system that will
allow for quality viewing while mobile. Connect a gaming system, such as a Playstation™ or GameCube™ to the portable DVD player and your vehicle becomes as entertaining
as an arcade.
A portable DVD player can be used just about anywhere, unlike dedicated hard
mounted vehicle DVD systems or bag type systems that are specifically designed
for in-vehicle use. When you arrive at your destination, e.g. the hotel, vacation
house, Grandma's, etc., the DVD player can be brought inside and used. Removal
of the DVD system also removes the target of many vehicle break-ins.
Both the DV-Grip and the DV-Grip IR install and remove in seconds—no brackets
to screw in to place or straps to clip and adjust. They are ready for use right
out of the package; no assembly required. Upon removal, the DV-Grip's end hooks
automatically retract to allow for easy storage. Because the DV-Grip fits virtually
all vehicles with adjustable front seat head restraints, only one DV-Grip or
DV-Grip IR is need for families with two or more vehicles.
Ed Spellman, who has been a mechanical engineer
for over 20 years, formed Sackso Enterprises, LLC in 2003 to bring these
products to market. Sackso Enterprises is named after
his three children, Sam
(14), Jack (11), and Sophie
